The Butterfly Weft, invisible injected extensions

On a weft, strands are usually knotted or sewn onto a thread. Here the hair is injected straight into a fine polyurethane membrane, with no knots: the seam is just 0.08 mm thick and stays perfectly smooth. It is pre-punched with evenly spaced holes, the stylist pulls the natural strands through with a hook, then clamps a microbead. Everything is done cold, with no glue and no braid underneath.

Laid flat, the weft follows the shape of the head. That is what makes the result undetectable, even close up.

A method still new to Europe
Injected wefts have become a salon standard in the United States over the past few years. They are only now reaching European salons: offering them today puts you a step ahead.

What stylists take away from it

Invisible, even in an updo : Nothing thickens the join: the weft can't be seen in a parting, or felt under the fingers.
At ease on fine hair : The weight spreads across the full 43 cm of the weft instead of pulling on a few strands.
Cold application and removal : Everything is done mechanically, with microbeads. The weft is reusable several times over.
Trims without shedding : Cut it between two holes, in roughly 2 cm steps, with no unravelling and no hair loss.

Specifications

Shade N°1B — Dark brown

An even dark brown, with no gradient and no added reflect. It is the most versatile shade in the ring: it covers most dark bases and forgives the tonal differences from one client to the next. If you were to stock a single shade to start with, this is the one.

Application

For trained professionals only. Allow around an hour for a full head with an experienced stylist.

1. Consultation. Assess density and confirm the shade against the RH Excellence colour ring, in daylight.
2. Sectioning. Clean horizontal partings, working from the nape upwards.
3. Sizing. Trim the weft between two holes to fit the section.
4. Beading. Secure both ends first, then work towards the centre: pull the strand through with the hook, clamp the microbead with pliers.
5. Blending. Thin the ends to blend the length, then check the weft lies flat and no bead is pulling.

Aftercare

• Shampoo and mask free of sulphates and silicones.
• Detangle from the ends up to the roots, holding the beaded area.
• Never sleep on or tie up damp hair: the leading cause of matting at the seam.
• Keep oil-based treatments away from the membrane and the beads.
